For several decades Santa Fe has been one of the top destinations in the world due to its rich artistic tradition. The wealth and variety of music is no exception.
Founded in 1987 by the late composer and double bassist Dennis Mile, The Serenata of Santa Fe entered the Santa Fe music scene as the only year – round professional chamber ensemble who’s core musicians are members of the community, bringing high class chamber music to Santa Fe by offering refreshing concert programs in a variety of eclectic venues, accessible and available to all. Through its long history Serenata has maintained these values, recognizing that the boundaries of chamber music are changing and expanding.
Today, Serenata’s extraordinary pool of talented musicians collaborate in the selection of the season’s repertoire, and in the preparation and performance of our uniquely constructed programs, having included commissions and premiers from a variety of well known and emerging composers. Our concerts are unusual and meaningful experiences that pique the ear.
Serenata provides vital learning opportunities through our teaching partnerships with ArtWorks, Santa Fe Public Schools, as well as Master Classes to students of all ages and levels. We cultivate an atmosphere of acceptance of each student for who they are.
Serenata is proud to call Santa Fe home, with our concert series at the acoustically beautiful and bright First Presbyterian Church. Our collective vision is to continue to connect and collaborate, developing new, empowering programs and commissioning new works that inform and inspire an artistic, cooperative aesthetic for the future in Santa Fe.
